Why is my Adaptive Cruise Control unavailable? ›

Some things that can keep your Adaptive Cruise Control from working properly: Bad weather that affects road visibility. Moisture on the inside or outside of the windshield. Blocked or dirty radar sensors or cameras.

In these cases, if the system does not detect an object within approximately 60 seconds or 1.2 miles (2 km) the cruise will be disengaged and a "ADAPTIVE CRUISE TEMPORARILY UNAVAILABLE" message. If there were other vehicles on the road for the radar to detect there would not be any issues.

Speed and distance sensors.

ACC uses information from two sensors: a distance sensor that monitors the gap to the car ahead and a speed sensor that automatically accelerates and decelerates your car. ACC uses information from these sensors to adjust your speed and maintain the set distance from the car in front of you.

Any issues with your car's electrical components can cause the cruise control to stop working. These issues could be something as simple as a loose wire or connector, or something more complicated like a damaged alternator, starter, or electrical short circuit.

Clean the radar sensor. The view of the radar sensor is impaired by add-on parts, the trim frames of number plate holders or stickers. Keep the area around the radar sensor free. The radar sensor has been displaced or damaged, e.g. due to damage to the front of the vehicle.

The Reset button is located on the lower left of ACC Panel. Release the Reset button and continue holding the Programs button until the Reset Memory screen appears (then release the Programs button).

To determine if you have a problem, try resetting the system. To do this, turn the cruise control off by disengaging the switch in your car. Next, turn the system on again, set a speed, and reapply cruise control.

This error message usually displays due to changes in some factors such as a server, country, or internet connection.

You can always override the feature and take control.

If any of the radars or the camera becomes blocked or misaligned, an "ADAPTIVE CRUISE TEMPORARILY UNAVAILABLE" message may be displayed and the cruise will be disabled. The following items should be considered when diagnosing an "ADAPTIVE CRUISE TEMPORARILY UNAVAILABLE" message.

What does an Adaptive Cruise Control problem mean? ›

When the adaptive cruise control (ACC) light turns on, it usually indicates an issue with the ACC, such as an unsafe following distance, faulty adaptive cruise control sensors, and bad weather. The adaptive cruise control is a system that helps keep your vehicle at a certain speed to maintain a safe following distance.

The system uses a radar sensor which projects a beam directly in front of your vehicle. The adaptive cruise controls are on the steering wheel. Press and release the switch.

Simply clean your vehicle's front grill and make way for the sensor. This should turn off the message and you should be able to use cruise control again. If you are still having trouble, run your vehicle through the car wash and try it again.

The most common issue is the sensor that is located behind the H emblem on the front grill. A lot of times the sensor gets dirt or debris on it and will cause the malfunction. If the sensor is clear of dirt at debris then the sensor itself most likely has failed causing this issue.

Your vehicle relies on speed sensors to provide data to the cruise control system. If the speed sensors are malfunctioning or not providing accurate information, your cruise control may not engage properly. Speed sensors can wear out over time or become dirty. Cleaning or replacing them may resolve the issue.
